Daily Announcements - Friday, May 8, 2026

The PEISAA Brodie McCarthy Student Athlete of the Year Award is given annually to a Grade 12 student who has participated in two PEISAA sanctioned sports during the 2025-2026 school year.  To apply to be considered for nomination, and to see the full list of criteria, please see more information on our website and Instagram, or check with Ms. Lindsay.

This is a last reminder for our potential grads to fill out the Google Form posted by Mrs Stetson on your Grad Google Classroom. The Safe Grad Awards are a fun, light-hearted part of your graduation night, and we want as much representation as possible. Make your voice heard, and nominate your peers for the awards, before the form closes on Monday at 9 a.m. This is for grads only, and must be completed using your school cloud account.

Mrs. Stetson is hosting Peer Helping Block Meetings on Monday for the first 30 minutes of each period. Peer helpers are asked to join her in the library to go over the final assessment.

Robotics Club meeting today.

On Monday and Tuesday, we will be welcoming Gwladys Bolemua, a dancer and instructor from Montreal, to offer dancehall and Afro dance workshops throughout both days.  Getting the full experience of different dance cultures is something that’s hard to do without actually being there yourself – and Gwladys brings that full experience right here to use.  Don’t miss it.  Students wanting to participate can see Ms. Edison to join.

Islamic Relief High School Club will be having a bake sale on Tuesday at lunch in the lobby.  Come support orphans in need around the world.

The Colonel Gray Awards Committee will begin meeting on May 12th, to select winners for the various awards that will be presented at the graduation ceremony.  If you are graduating this year, this is your last chance to complete the nomination form that was sent out in the fall.  Changes have been made to the form, so please review and update your submission, even if you’ve already completed it for prior consideration.

The PEI Mutual Insurance Scholarships are due on Sunday, and the Eli MacEachern, City of Charlottetown Bursary is due on May 13th.

Teachers – Today is a duty Day 2.

This week, our student of the week has been described as one of those students who aims to serve others and has a great attitude. Ms. Cummins says her Canadian Studies class wouldn’t run as smoothly if this student wasn’t as keen, caring, and motivated. She has taken a couple of international students under her wing and ensures they understand and are successful in all they do!  We like to encourage this kind of helpfulness and support, which is why we are recognizing you, Annyka Cassel, as our Colonel Gray student of the week!
